Moorabool towns launch websites
The Moorabool Communities and Technologies Project (CAT Project) commenced on 20 April 2005 with the aim of supporting six communities in establishing local township websites within the Moorabool Online Community (www.mconline.com.au). This opportunity to undertake this project was identified after the 2004 pilot project which led to the establishment of the Mt Egerton community website (www.mtegerton.com).
The CAT project has been supported by the Macpherson Smith Community Alliance an initiative between the State Government and Helen Macpherson Smith Trust.
The Launch event on 2 March 2006 provided an opportunity for all participants to celebrate the CAT Project achievements to date which have included the launch of:
- BlackwoodVictoria.com
- Myrniong.com
- BallanOnline.com
- GreendaleDalesCreek.com
- GordonVictoria.com
- NavigatorsVictoria.com
Website statistics presented for the seven township websites confirmed that the following utilisation of the community websites had been recorded in less than a six month period:
- 26,568 visits
- 104,590 pages views
- 226,406 hits
The Launch event also provided an opportunity to announce new activities which will be supported during 2006. These will include:
- Extension of the role of the Community Facilitator – Sarah Springfield will continue to support communities as they grow their online services.
- Two more towns to join the CAT Project.
- Community workshop program will commence in next few weeks – Each town will be asked to nominate representatives to participate in a series of six workshops. The University’s TAFE division will assist in the delivery of the workshop program.
