CeCC Researchers to Present at Knowledge Forum on Sustainable Regions
CeCC researchers have been invited to participate in the upcoming forum on sustainable regions. Entitled Sustaining our Region by Knowledge Sharing: A forum for sharing knowledge and research in the Wimmera, the event is jointly supported by the University of Ballarat and GWMWater.
The intention of forum is to share knowledge about building regional sustainability and resilient communities in the Wimmera. The event will showcase the diversity of knowledge held at the University of Ballarat, with topics to include water management in drylands, liveability and sustainability indicators, farmer adaption to changing climate, knowledge management and spatial research.
The forum will also showcase learnings from GWMWater, Wimmera CMA and Department of Primary Industries.
Dr Helen Thompson and Dr Peter Dahlhaus from CeCC will share their insights at this forum with a joint presentation on effective regional knowledge sharing. The presentation will examine the effectiveness of visual representations in the dissemination of regional knowledge and will draw widely on examples from CeCC’s successful groundwater project, Visualising Victoria’s Groundwater.
Participants attending the forum will also have an opportunity to share their knowledge, identify knowledge gaps and discuss requirements for building a more sustainable region. Proposed topics for examination at the forum include:
- optimised logistics and transportation systems
- effective regional knowledge sharing and visual representations
- improvements in food processing that enhances the nutritional value of food products
- impacts of changing climate in the Wimmera, including impact on water supply systems, farming and community
- addressing health and education disadvantage.
The Forum will be held on Friday 31 May 2013 from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm at the Wimmera Trade Training Centre (opposite the UB Horsham Campus) in the Auditorium on Baillie Street, Horsham.
