Federation University Finalist in 2015 Victorian International Education Awards
Federation University’s Centre for eResearch and Digital Innovation (CeRDI) has been selected as a finalist in the ‘Excellence in Innovation in Industry Partnerships’ category of the Victorian International Education Awards 2015.
These awards are a prestigious Victorian government initiative recognising the outstanding achievements of innovative education institutions, companies and service providers delivering excellence in international education in Victoria.
CeRDI’s application highlights the Centre’s well established and wide-ranging collaborations with industry partners across a diverse portfolio.
The Centre’s strong track record with industry partners has seen it develop innovations in water resources management, agricultural productivity enhancements, health and well-being, and industry partnerships that advance higher degrees by research in Victoria.
Key strategies for achieving success have included the establishment of long-term partnerships with industry, government and academia and the conduct of applied research delivering beneficial outcomes to industry partners.
CeRDI has also achieved a number of exceptional, world-class innovations in technology approaches and methodologies delivering beneficial outcomes for partners and leading to sustained research and investment.
Visualising Victoria’s Groundwater is one example of a CeRDI-led initiative that has gained international recognition for its approaches to spatial mapping, knowledge management and data interoperability. Similar technologies and approaches have subsequently been applied through research in areas including natural resource management, emergency preparedness and recovery, health and wellbeing, history and indigenous knowledge sharing.
The winners of the Victorian International Education Awards will be announced at a ceremony on 1 December at Government House, Melbourne.
