2007 Client Forum Report
CeCC held its fourth annual Client Forum and Networking Session on Friday 8 June 2007.
This year’s forum was opened by the University of Ballarat's Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Battersby, and was attended by representatives from CeCC’s diverse client group, as well as several prospective clients - who gathered to share information on recent progress and new online services innovations which have been implemented over the last twelve months.
Rachna Muddagouni, from Fitzroy Legal Services, detailed just how far they have progressed with the online version of The Law Handbook, using CeCC’s Docbook Manager. More projects are in the pipeline and we look forward to progressing these over the coming months.
Sam Gray from Central Highlands Regional Library Corporation, who presented at last year’s forum as a new client, gave a glimpse of CHRLC's progress over the last 12 months. Stage One of CeCC’s involvement with CHRLC was simply one of transferring the hosting of their existing website – this has progressed to Stage Two and the launch of intranet services with Stage Three (due for launch in September 2007) - which includes total overhaul of their online systems, including website design, database construction and implementation, and expansion of the current intranet capabilities.
Colleen O’Hara, of Grampians Integrated Cancer Services, presented as a new client (or in Colleen’s words, our new “baby”!!) – with the GICS website launched only a week prior to the forum. GICS’ has been established to established to drive and develop cancer reform with and through key stakeholders, inclusive of service providers, patients and families of all age groups, across all treatment and care aspects of the cancer journey. They see the newly implemented online resources as key to this mission. We look forward to seeing GICS progress at next year’s forum.
Another new client was Interpath, represented by the always colourful and entertaining Kristy Bye. Interpath is best known for its flagship product “Sasha’s Blend” (a health supplement for dogs, to aid in the treatment of arthritis and other joint related issues). Interpath have recently joined forces with CeCC to bring together the online resources of all of their offices, based in several locations around the world. Initial stages of this partnership are progressing well with new websites to be launched shortly.
Peter Dahlhaus, from the School of Science and Engineering drew our attention to the inadequacies of current recording and reporting processes in the area of water catchments and ground water levels. If Peter’s vision for improvement and change to these practises comes to fruition, the CeCC team hopes to be kept busy playing a significant role in the project's implementation.
Andrew MacLeod gave an overview of product developments over the past 12 months and used the afternoon session to answer some of the questions raised in the morning’s presentations - in particular, demonstrating the functionality of our recently upgraded Docbook Manager.
The team at CeCC would like to thank all attendees for their enthusiastic participation and we look forward to seeing everyone at next year’s forum.
